Hello from Anchorage, Alaska, October 1st, 2020
Welcome to Lingojam . . . the easier English!

I'm Mary Haas and I am one of the original people who came together - in 2019 in Istanbul - to create a "fairer and better English" - one that would be easier to learn and to use for businesses primarily.

When we started, there were just four of us and now there must be - I don't know - 40, 50 or more who are getting involved in things.
The other three are all men. I'm the only female out of the Lingojam founders, I mean. Evard is Swedish and is still working there. Emil has now returned to his family home in Italy and has been pretty quiet for a while. And Oliver's in New Zealand but keeps in contact and produces masses of new language.
There are some others who are active too and you will learn about them in the blogs.
The Lingojam Movement, as we like to call it is going ahead in leaps and bounds. It's just amazing how many feel so passionate about its development.

The good news is that now we have a tentative launch date, which is April 2021. The aim is to have enough people able to write, speak, and teach Lingojam by then so we can book them in with the huge number of business students who are waiting for the launch.

There are over 70 big corporations ready to give Lingojam a go - the main reason for that is because many of their executives have been complaining about how they are forced to learn idiomatic and difficult English, which always puts them at a big disadvantage in front of Americans. Canadians, Brits, and Australians.

Each of these corporations has, a large student potential which puts our student numbers at around 3000 to 7000.

That means we're going to need to have, let's see . . .
Each student taking say 3 or 4 sessions a week, 5000 (avge) and each teacher able to handle say 5 students a week. This would mean 5 students, each 4 times a week = 20 sessions a week for each teacher. (more than enough, believe me!)

This means we need 5000 divided by 20 comes to 250 teachers. At my last count we could count on around 10 or 12 people - so urgently we need another 200 or more.
The great thing about it is that we have student guarantees from the corporations for the first 18 months. After that it'll be up to us to carry it forward.

We haven't started recruiting yet (it's now October 2020) but are making plans to start this or next month. Teachers will have up to 4 months to pick up Lingojam (see more). When you speak in Lingojam, it's 80% to 90% the same as speaking in English, so mainly it's the new characters and verb formations that have to be assimilated. A simple job for those with passion.
Lingojam teachers payments.
It has already been agreed that we will pay teachers 125% of the online teacher average remuneration. No where was it stated, average in which country, as it changes a lot if you think of payments in South Korea (high) and payments in South America and parts of ASEAN. (see more).

To save us (By the way when I say 'us' I mean the seven members of the Inner Circle, which is the governing body for the Lingojam Movement. (Two of those are still waiting to qualify the 3 months). This means that Marie-Pierre and John, will join in with discussions as they qualify.

Right now it's up to the five existing IC members:
Masayuki a language professor from Japan,
Keiko, ITT marketing from Netherlands,
Paulo and ESL teacher from Milano, in Italy,
Jennifer a Primary School teacher from the UK,
and, Brenda an entrepreneur who lives in Cape Town.

PAYMENTS
While - in the open world - pay depends on your qualifications and the specific job, that is not the way with the Lingojam Movement. As remunerations are covered by a consortium of companies, all payments to teachers are uniform.

If a teacher transfers to another company the payment remains the same, depending on the member level only.
In the open world, you can expect to make anywhere from $12-$25 USD/hour (and sometimes more) as an online English teacher. The rate of pay with online tutoring companies, such as those in theTeachEnglish.live and LocalEnglishOnline.com network (including VIPKid, Open English, iTutorGroup, and GoGoKid), ranges from $14-$25 USD/hour. Considering these two sources; we arrive at an average of $19/session. The designated 125% comes to $23.70/session.
This $23.750 USD / £.18.50 GBP is the figure to be used for qualified Lingojam English teachers.

If you are a good English speaker, or an ESL English teacher and if you have experience of online teaching, or if you feel strongly you would enjoy this work and could do it well - then you are invited to contact me and I will send you the appropriate application forms.
Mary Haas - see the contact details. Either one will do.
